2015: Empty Promises
I am going to try and post something every day on this blog for a year (I’ll probably quit around March). Good grief, how do people do this every day? How do you think of things to write about or post every friggin day? It is not easy. Lately I have been watching a lot of youtube and Twitch.TV channels devoted to gaming trying to get an idea of what I want to do with The Double X ChromoZone, but I don’t think I’m disciplined enough to keep it up. I definitely try.
Welcome, Xbox One
I said good-bye to my PS3 and picked up the Xbox One Assassin’s Creed bundle for $158 thanks to an amazing promotional deal Best Buy had running. I spent the first couple of weeks wanting to throw the XB1 out of my third story window. I liked it, but I have kind of shitty internet so it was tough trying to play games with it because, unless I was doing something wrong, I always had to sign into Xbox Live in order to play. Eventually, I gave up and used it to play Blu Rays and DVDs until Dragon Age: Inquisition and Grand Theft Auto V came out.
I really don’t get the whole needing to sign in to my profile online in order to play games thing. If I were playing multi-player, totally get it. Playing story mode alone in my hobble, I don’t understand it. You can’t even begin to imagine my overwhelming happiness with this feature on Christmas Day when I finally had time to get into Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Thankfully, those problems have been resolved. I had four days off for New Year’s and spent most of that time playing video games and familiarizing myself with some of the Xbox One features and I’ve grown to like it a lot. Not love because I’m pissed about the having to sign into XBL to play games. That needs to be fixed, but I have no regrets about buying it.
Dragon Age: Inquisition
BioWare is just showing off now. What can I say about this game that has not already been said? It’s an amazing fucking game and an even more amazing gaming experience. There is so much to do. I usually hate side quests, but the areas you have access to are so huge and beautiful that I didn’t mind wandering around and getting lost for hours on end trying to complete one. It’s hands down my favorite game of 2014. I’m on my second play through and loving every second of it. My only complaint is that I couldn’t romance Leiliana. Sigh.
